The LA Clippers signed center DeMarcus Cousins for the rest of the season on Monday.
Cousins joined the Clippers after he was released by the Houston Rockets after 25 games played. The 30-year-old has quickly provided much-needed stability in the frontcourt for LA in a limited role off the bench.
His play has improved as he has grown more comfortable within the offense as a strong presence in the paint. Over the last three games, he’s averaging 9.3 points and 8.0 rebounds in 14 minutes per contest. That includes a pair of double-digit scoring performances while grabbing more than five rebounds in each game.
Cousins may not be the player he once was, but he can be a highly valuable offensive factor. His scoring prowess brings an added scoring punch to the second unit.

Cousins has the opportunity ahead of him further to secure his role within the team’s future plans. He could play a pivotal spot in the playoffs as the Clippers will need his scoring presence off the bench.
Cousins can also prove that he’s worth a lucrative multi-year deal with LA or another franchise next offseason. In the meantime, he will have the chance to play a critical part in a championship push.
