Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell to miss several games with ankle injury
The Utah Jazz have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season. They’ve come into their own with the three-headed monster of Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley leading the way.
Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worst for the Western Conference-leading Jazz. Donovan Mitchell suffered an ankle injury recently. The injury was bad enough that Mitchell had to be helped off the floor. As a result, many believe that his season could be over and the team’s title hopes along with it.

However, it appears the Jazz may have gotten lucky. No severe damage was found after an MRI on the All-Star’s right ankle. Even though the injury wasn’t as severe as first thought, Mitchell will miss several games, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
An MRI on the right ankle sprain of Donovan Mitchell revealed no structural damage, but the Utah Jazz guard is expected to miss several games before he is cleared to return, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Jazz don’t appear to be in danger of losing any ground in the West, even with Mitchell on the mend and perhaps out until the start of the playoffs in a month. Despite that being the case, the real concern is whether Mitchell can bounce back quickly from this injury and be back to form during the postseason.
Utah will need to be at full strength to start the postseason as the West playoff picture will be as tough as ever, with many legitimate title contenders all ready to compete for the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
