This is the first time that Leonard has put out anything publicly concerning the situation. He was quiet throughout the entire process leading up to the trade. There was a sense that he was unhappy with the situation and how everything unfolded regarding his quad injury.
Leonard established himself as one of the league’s top players during his seven seasons with the Spurs where he won an NBA title, an NBA Finals MVP award, a pair of NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards, two All-Star game selections, two All-NBA First-Team nods, three NBA All-Defensive First team selections, and an NBA All-Defensive Second Team nomination. Things may have ended on rough terms, but there is a strong appreciation for his time in San Antonio.
He is now set to begin the next chapter of his career where he will be a key part of the Toronto Raptors’ core group at through the 2018-19 season.
