Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has ‘no structural damage’ found in injured knee

The Denver Nuggets have split their first four games this season. However the overriding concern lies with reigning league MVP Nikola Jokic after suffering a knee injury against the Utah Jazz.

Jokic went down in the second quarter after receiving a right knee contusion after Jazz star big man Rudy Gobert bumped the inner part of the area. According to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, tests found no structural damage.

After medical testing Wednesday, there was no structural damage found in Denver Nuggets center and reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic’s knee, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The Nuggets avoided a significant setback as Jokic is the centerpiece to the team’s offense. His all-around play has pushed him to become one of the league’s best talents. He’s the best passing big man, while he’s developed into an elite scorer.

Denver will move forward with caution to avoid any setbacks. The team will likely elect to keep him off the floor for the next few games to allow the injury to heal fully.

Before the injury, Jokic was off to another stellar start, averaging 26.8 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 67.7% shooting from the floor and 46.7% from 3-point range. His absence places significant pressure on the rest of the roster to pick up the slack. Denver will lean on Will Barton, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr.

The Nuggets are already without star guard Jamal Murray, who suffered a torn ACL in April. He isn’t expected to return until potentially late in the regular season.
