Orlando Magic guard J.J. Redick could jump from a bottom of the barrel team to an Eastern Conference powerhouse before the trade deadline is up.

According to HOOPSWORLD’s Alex Kennedy, the Indiana Pacers and the Chicago Bulls are the two teams interested in the 28-year-old sharpshooter. If either team winds up adding Redick, it would immediately bolster a top-tier team with an elite perimeter scorer.

For his career, Redick averages 15.3 points per game while shooting nearly 40 percent from the three-point arc. It’s not just his spot-on shooting that makes him a talented player, but he has since added a repertoire of skills this season, cutting to the basket and scoring off the dribble. It has helped him average career-bests in almost every statistical category, including scoring, rebounding, assists and field-goal percentage.

With Big Baby Davis out of the lineup, he has helped carry the scoring load and could very well be the best player on the Magic squad. He helped the team stun the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night, scoring 22 points to snap their 12-game losing streak.

Both the Bulls and Pacers are without that one efficient perimeter scorer, but no indications have been made of what a team would give up for him. And they would have to risk the chance of Redick’s expiring contract after this season (will become a free agent on July 1st). But it’s hard to miss out on such a sharpshooter.

While Redick was a free agent in 2010, he almost signed a three-year offer sheet with Chicago but Orlando eventually matched the offer and Redick stayed put.

Redick had been out of the Magic lineup for three straight games, recovering from a shoulder strain.
