Timberwolves to sign Naz Reid to five-year deal
The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off their second straight appearance in the Western Conference Finals, with Anthony Edwards and company defying the odds yet again.
Even though it appears the Timberwolves are headed in the right direction while following Edwards’ lead, Minnesota has some work to do heading into the NBA offseason, much like any team in the West trying to contend with the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

One of the most significant moves came early as the team has agreed to a lucrative five-year contract with rising star Naz Reid, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid intends to sign a new five-year, $125 million contract to stay with the franchise, sources told ESPN on Friday.
The deal includes a player option, sources said.
Although Edwards is the face of the franchise, with Julius Randle looking like the second-in-line, Reid has played a vital role in the team’s success while making his mark on the games.
Reid, 25, has been a crucial part of a Timberwolves team that has made the Western Conference finals in back-to-back seasons, helping to stretch the floor as a prolific 3-point shooter. He was one of just three forward/centers to average at least 5.8 3-point attempts per game last season, along with Kristaps Porzingis and Victor Wembanyama, and has shot 39.5% from long range over the past two seasons.
Minnesota hopes to stay in the mix in the West despite stiff competition, which could potentially improve over the summer due to NBA free agency and potential trades.
