Warriors superstar Kevin Durant confirms torn Achilles injury
During Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Kevin Durant suffered a serious leg injury. It immediately drew the attention toward it being a possible Achilles tendon tear.
Those fears were confirmed on Wednesday as Kevin Durant took to Instagram to confirm that he had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon and that he was in good spirits moving forward, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN.

“What’s good everybody I wanted to update you all: I did rupture my Achilles. Surgery was today and it was a success,” Durant wrote in an Instagram post, which accompanied a picture of him in a hospital.
It was something that the Warriors had voiced privately. In the camp, they believed he suffered that type of injury. It was one of the risks that Kevin Durant and Golden State knew they were taking. He had, of course, been out of the lineup for more than a month due to a calf strain.

He was able to move well through the first 11 minutes played. However, suffered the injury on his first attempt to drive to the basket. He immediately went down to the floor when it happened. Durant now faces a long recovery process ahead. It will more than likely keep him out of action for the entire 2019-20 season.
This now shifts the question of his long-term future with the Warriors as he’s still expected to enter free agency. There will be more clarity in the coming weeks, meanwhile, Golden State is set to play in Game 6 on Friday looking to force a Game 7 against the Toronto Raptors.
If they lose, they will have to wonder what might have been.
