Bowls Are Set: What Non-BCS Games Would You Pay to See?

I love the bowls. I’m not going to lie. We hear complaints about there being too many of them. We hear that 6-6 teams should not be rewarded for their mediocrity. I say, more college football please.

I will watch all the games I can. Of course, nobody can watch them all. Some are during work hours.. But rest assured, if I didn’t have to go to work for a month, like say if I were laid up in a hospital with a broken leg or some nasty illness, I’d watch every one of them.

We all know about the five BCS games including the National Championship game between the Florida State Seminoles and Auburn Tigers. Of course we’d all love to have tickets for that one. Another one I’d love to see is the Fiesta Bowl between the Baylor Bears and the UCF Knights. But that is because I graduated from UCF.

Living in Florida means that several of these games are almost in my back yard. So most likely I will be attending one of them just to gt one more game in before the always too long off-season. But which one should I go to? The Gator Bowl game is the one closest to my house. It is between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. That sounds like a fin game. It is. I know this because I saw this game last year at the Capital One Bowl. Really Gator Bowl? You couldn’t get us game we haven’t seen in the last 365 days?

So how about the Outback Bowl between the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes? That might be a good one. Raymond James Stadium is worth going to see. But I can’t think of a single Iowa game I’ve watched all year. I could not name you one Iowa player.

Th Capital One Bowl between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Wisconsin Badgers should be a good one. But I saw the gamecocks once this season already when they came down to Orlando to take on the Knights. Do I need to see them again?

So then what about the Orange Bowl between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Clemson Tigers. Good game, but Miami is quite a haul from my house. I can almost drive to Atlanta to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl just as quickly. The Texas A&M Aggies take on the Duke Blue Devils there. Going to see Johnny Manziel would be worth that trip. Plus, the Orange Bowl is a BCS Game and we are talking about the non-BCS bowls here.

So that leaves us with the Russell Athletics Bowl, also in Orlando on December 28th. The Louisville Cardinals will take on the Miami Hurricanes in this one. Teddy Bridgewater against the Canes Stephen Morris will be a good quarterback match-up. Both of them can put the ball in the air with the best of them.

Louisville will be trying for a 12-1 season. That’s a great record for this bowl that normally gets a team trying to get to 7-6. The Canes will be trying for their 10th win of the season as well which gives them plenty of motivation. It;s been a while since they’ve posted a double digit win total.

So the Russell Athletics Bowl is the game I would most likely attend. What are the games you would go to?
