2021 NFL free agency: 5 best remaining on market
With much of the 2021 NFL free agency period behind us, there are still quality players out there. Here’s the top five players to still sign.
5. Sheldon Richardson
This week, the Cleveland Browns released defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson. After only two years with the Browns, he’s back on the market looking for his fifth team in six seasons. Still, at 31 years old, Richardson is one of the better interior rushers in the game, notching 7.5 sacks during his time on the banks of Lake Erie. Nobody should expect Richardson to come in and dominate in 2021, but he’s a good player who can still be a quality defender.

4. Mitchell Schwartz
Schwartz might be the biggest wild card of the 2021 NFL Free Agency. He could simply retire at 32 years old after missing 11 games in the regular season and then the postseason with a back injury before getting surgery to correct the problem in February. Schwartz is an All-Pro right tackle when healthy and hadn’t missed a single game before 2020. If he wants to play, the Kansas City Chiefs might have first crack, but there would be no shortage of interest and offers.
3. Antonio Brown
Brown is coming off a Super Bowl win, but he’s not yet been retained by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa has a plethora of talent on the outside, perhaps meaning Brown is going to have to end up elsewhere. In a truncated season, Brown played eight games and caught 45 passes for 483 yards and four touchdowns from Tom Brady. The seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time First-Team All-Pro remains an elite talent with a ton of off-field baggage.

2. Justin Houston
Few players have been more productive off the edge over the last two years. Yet somehow, Houston has gone under the proverbial radar with the Indianapolis Colts. The 10-year veteran and four-time Pro Bowler totaled eight sacks in 2020 and 11 the year prior, all while not missing a game. While he’s not going to return to the form which saw him bag 22 sacks in 2014 with the Chiefs, he’s still very capable of getting into double digits.
1. Richard Sherman
Unquestionably, Sherman is towards the end of what will prove to be a Hall of Fame career. At 33 years old, Sherman missed all but five games with the San Francisco 49ers last season. Still, when he’s on the field, Sherman remains a terrific zone corner who can make plays on the ball. It’s only going to cost a one-year deal, and Sherman is well worth the low-risk gamble.
