2021 NFL win totals: 5 bets to take the over

The 2021 NFL win totals have been released in Vegas, and we look at which bets would be wise on the over.

5. New York Giants (7)

Any sane person has one NFC East team in their over bets. Why? The division was historically bad last year and it stands to reason we won’t see that again in 2020. After beefing the roster up with receiver Kenny Golladay and the return of star running back Saquon Barkley, third-year quarterback Daniel Jones should be improved. If he is, that’s enough for Big Blue to go 8-9 and maybe take the crown.

4. Minnesota Vikings (8.5)

The Vikings are an interesting bet, with their line literally asking will they go above or below .500? The Vikings were let down by their porous defense last year and did a nice job addressing that unit with veteran corner Patrick Peterson and defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson coming in via free agency. Minnesota also has the blessing of getting the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions for four games, so that’s a fine head start to at least nine wins.

3. Seattle Seahawks (10)

Alright, onto the heavy hitters. The Seahawks still have Russell Wilson at the controls behind an improved offensive line following the addition of guard Gabe Jackson. The weapons are replete with stars including receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, along with running back Chris Carson. Then there’s the defense, which started coming around after safety Jamal Adams got healthy and Carlos Dunlap was acquired as an edge rusher.  Love the number here.

2. Cleveland Browns (10)

Normally, this would be a regress candidate all day. The Browns won 11 games while being outscored in the regular season, and beat a woeful slate doing it. However, this is a lower number than the contests won in shorter campaign, and the Browns did a nice job finding help in free agency with corner Troy Hill and safety John Johnson. Also, head coach Kevin Stefanski is terrific and the division got worse. Those things will get the Browns to the over.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (12)

Love the Chiefs in this spot. Kansas City has won at least 26 regular-season games over the past two seasons. If you hate math, that averages out to 13. Also, we now have an extra game on the slate moving forward and this year, the AFC will be hosting nine games. The Chiefs remain the best team in the AFC and in the West by a considerable margin. Unless Kansas City gets hurt, this is the safest bet on the board.
