2022 NFL free agency: Top 5 rosters going into offseason

Looking at 2022 NFL free agency front afar, let’s take a peak at the top five roster as we head into the offseason.

5. San Francisco 49ers

While the Niners are likely going to be having a switch at quarterback in 2022 from Jimmy Garoppolo to Trey Lance, that could represent an immediate upgrade. Additionally, the offense is loaded with weapons with tight end George Kittle and receiver Deebo Samuel being perhaps the most versatile player in the league. San Francisco also has a terrific front seven with linebacker Fred Warner, edge rusher Nick Bosa and defensive tackle Erik Armstead ruining opponents’ plans.

4. Los Angeles Rams

Coming off a Super Bowl victory, the Rams have plenty work to do in the 2022 NFL free agency. Los Angeles has a slew of free agents including edge rusher Von Miller, corner Darious Williams, receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and others. Still, the Rams are loaded on both sides of the ball, especially on a defensive front helmed by Aaron Donald. If the Rams can retain most of their roster, there’s a real chance they get back to the Super Bowl.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City fell short of the Super Bowl for the first time in three years, but nobody would question the depth of talent it has. The Chiefs are still led by a terrific trio offensively in quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and receiver Tyreek Hill. Additionally, the defense has Chris Jones up front and a pair of stud, young linebackers in Willie Gay and Nick Bolton. The big question is whether the secondary has Tyrann Mathieu in it come September. If not, huge loss.

2. Green Bay Packers

Much like the Rams, Green Bay is facing a hoard of decisions on some of its best players. General manager Brian Gutekunst has a tough chore with linebacker DeVondre Campbell, receiver Davante Adams and tight end Robert Tonyan hitting free agency, while the cap situation probably means a few significant cuts. If Gutekunst can maintain this group, Green Bay is going to be in the mix for Aaron Rodgers‘ second title.

1. Buffalo Bills

The Bills had their first Super Bowl appearance since 1993 staring at them, but 13 seconds against the Chiefs cost them the opportunity. Buffalo has all the necessary components to win it all, and general manager Brandon Beane isn’t facing a big list of important, pending free agents. Don’t be surprised if they’re the favorite throughout much of 2022.
