Andrew Berry Reveals What Finally Changed Browns’ Stance on Myles Garrett
Since the end of the 2025 season, the Cleveland Browns had remained publicly adamant that star defensive Myles Garrett wasn’t available.
However, that stance changed when the Los Angeles Rams recently upped the ante with their trade offer, which included two-time Pro Bowler Jared Verse.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry indicated as much, saying he felt the move, which also included receiving a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round selection, and a 2029 third-round pick, allows the franchise both now and in the future.
“I didn’t have it on the bingo card, and I realize how strong I’ve been with Myles,” Berry said via ESPN. “But the reality is when you have an opportunity to do something that has strong both short- and long-term benefits, we have to be flexible with it.”
As it is difficult for any organization, let alone the Browns, to move off the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, it’s a decision that the team felt was in its best interest at this moment, while getting in return a talented pass rusher that they can build with moving forward.
“He’s a perfect DNA match for our attacking front,” Berry said. “He’s really a terror in both phases, both as a run defender and a pass rusher. We are really, really excited to add him to our team. He allows us to continue to play defense at a high level, which has been our standard over the past couple of seasons, and we are really excited to welcome him into the organization.”
As much as the Rams are viewed as bigger winners with the trade due to acquiring arguably the league’s best defensive player, who could further help elevate them into Super Bowl contention next season, the Browns are looking at the bigger picture and are hopeful that this move could benefit them greatly in the long haul.
