Bears say Caleb Williams will be starting QB Week 1
Before Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams begins his first NFL minicamp, the team has already addressed one crucial question.
Head coach Matt Eberflus quickly labeled the former Heisman Trophy winner as the starter.
“No conversation,” Eberflus said via ESPN. “He’s the starter.”

The firm stance shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that the Bears made it quite clear before drafting last month that he was their future under center. Chicago moved Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, paving the way for Williams to take the reins once he arrived.
At the same time, he voiced confidence that he could quickly pick up the team’s offensive game.
“Right now I feel pretty good,” Williams said. “Obviously we’ll go out here today, and we’re going to have a few mess-ups, probably, and things like that, working to do, eliminate those as fast as possible. But you need those things to grow and progress throughout the time and years and things like that. So excited, but I feel pretty good right now.”

The Bears will heavily rely on Williams to lead the charge. The front office spent much of the offseason adding more offensive talent around him to ease the pressure.
Williams possesses a strong slew of passing game talent such as wide receivers Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, and rookie Rome Odunze. The Bears are also returning one of the league’s top offensive lines.
Time will tell if he can take Chicago back to relevancy in the NFL.
