Broncos sign former Chiefs DE Frank Clark to one-year deal
The Denver Broncos added another impactful piece to their stout defense after signing defensive end Frank Clark to a one-year deal.
The contract is reportedly worth up to $7.5 million with a guaranteed $5.5 million base salary. Clark has spent the last four seasons with the Chiefs. He served as a key piece along the Kansas City defensive line that helped them win two Super Bowls.
The 29-year-old has tallied 59.5 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, and 264 total tackles in 120 regular season games over his first eight seasons.

He has been a significant factor in the playoffs, sitting third all-time with 13.5 sacks behind Willie McGinest (16.0) and Bruce Smith (14.5). It includes 10.5 sacks in 12 postseason games with the Chiefs.
“I’ve said it, you’re going to churn certain position groups based on getting a chance to look at other players,” head coach Sean Payton said after Thursday’s practice via ESPN.
The Broncos are hoping Clark’s production and presence can help provide them with an added pass-rush boost. Denver is a year removed from inking Randy Gregory to a five-year, $70 million deal.
Gregory fell well short of the expected production as he’s played only six games where he tallied two sacks. The combination of a healthy Gregory and Clark will give Denver a formidable pass-rush duo.

Despite the offensive struggles last season with Russell Wilson, the Broncos boasted one of the league’s top defenses. The addition of Clark should only further solidify the team’s play defensively.
