Browns owner Jimmy Haslam says team is ‘rebooting’ after firing Hue Jackson, Todd Haley

The Cleveland Browns made the major decision to move on from head coach Hue Jackson after just 2 1/2 seasons at the helm along with offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

This has put the franchise in a state influx without a head coach through the midway point of the 2018 campaign. With that in mind, team owner Jimmy Haslam has voiced that he doesn’t believe that it’s a move that throws away the year but rather reboots them, according to Pat McManamon of ESPN.

“This is not a throwing in of the towel,” Haslam said Monday afternoon. “It is a rebooting, if you will, an opportunity to give them a fresh start these last eight games.”

The Browns had struggled tremendously under Jackson going 3-36-1 over the last two-plus seasons that included going winless for the 2017 campaign. There was some improvement to begin this year, but it has once again begun to go south after dropping three straight games that have put them in last place in the AFC South.

This decision has now opened up an opportunity for Cleveland to head into another direction with their next hire to establish a culture that can finally push them in the right path. The only thing clear at this point is that the organization wants to move forward with rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield as the central piece of their future.

All of this now puts a large amount of pressure on the front office to find the next coach that can turn around the franchise that has long been plagued by disappointment.
