Browns QB Baker Mayfield wants ‘fracture to heal’ before returning
The Cleveland Browns have battled through significant injuries this season.
It’s featured fourth-year quarterback Baker Mayfield dealing a partially torn labrum to his left shoulder. The injury forced him to miss Thursday’s game against the Denver Broncos.
The Browns managed to squeeze out a 17-14 win with Case Keenum taking up spot start duties while D’Ernest Johnson led the charge with a career-best performance putting up 146 rushing yards and a touchdown.

As Mayfield continues to work that ailment that will eventually require surgery, he voiced on Thursday that he is also working through a tuberosity fracture in his left shoulder, via ESPN.
“I need that fracture to heal for me to get back out there,” Mayfield said shortly before Cleveland’s 17-14 victory against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night. He added that he’s hoping to return for Cleveland’s game against the Steelers on Oct. 31.
Although the injuries continue to pile up, it hasn’t pushed him away from trying to stay on the field this season. Mayfield is confident he can play, but the Browns are handling the situation with much caution. His absence from Thursday’s game was more of a precautionary measure, but it speaks to the uncertainty around his health.
