Bucs QB Tom Brady throws for first time since knee surgery

Tom Brady and his offseason plans shifted dramatically after undergoing serious knee surgery.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have remained mum on the extent of the operation but circle a June as his return date to the practice field. According to Jenna Laine of ESPN, head coach Bruce Arians voiced this week that Brady is on the trajectory to resume throwing next week.

“I told him, ‘Just take it easy,'” Arians said Friday after the Bucs’ first rookie camp practice. “He wants to get his arm in shape and he’s gotta take the time on that leg. You throw with your legs as much as your arm. He knows that, so just take your time and make sure you’re right.”

The Buccaneers want Brady to operate on his pace as there’s no reason for him to rush. The 43-year-old is coming working his way back from a serious knee surgery that has taken three months to heal.

Tampa Bay wants Brady to be as comfortable as possible on the field as it’s the first major surgery he’s had since his torn ACL. There is still plenty of the offseason for him to get his body right ahead of the 2021 campaign.

Tom Brady will benefit from playing in the same offense while almost the entire roster from last year is returning. Tampa Bay will bring him along through what’s best for his recovery.

The six-time Super Bowl champion likely will take it a lighter workload in mandatory training camp to get his legs under him. Nonetheless, Brady’s progress as expected.
