Carson Wentz, Quenton Nelson could be ready for Colts in Week 1
The Indianapolis Colts were dealt a tough blow last week. Quarterback Carson Wentz and guard Quenton Nelson both underwent foot surgeries.
It put into question the players available by the start of the 2021 season. However, ESPN is reporting that both are progressing toward being ready to play for the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz and guard Quenton Nelson are trending toward recovering from foot surgeries in time for next month’s regular-season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, sources told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
It’s certainly encouraging news for the Colts as both are expected to play significant parts in the team’s offensive plans. Since entering the league, Nelson has been one of the league’s top offensive linemen.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis is hoping Wentz can be the long-term answer under center. The front office gave up a huge trade haul to land the former Pro Bowler.

As Wentz remains on the mend, the Colts are turning to an inexperienced group of talent with Sam Ehlinger, Jacob Eason, and Brett Hundley. Among the players, only Hundley has taken a snap in an NFL game.
The Colts will use the preseason and the rest of training camp to determine who will step in if Wentz cannot give it a go for the season opener. Ehlinger recently took snaps with the first team in practice, which may provide a small inkling of the team’s direction.
Nonetheless, the Colts will continue to monitor the rehab process for Wentz and Nelson as the 2021 campaign inches closer.
