Chiefs’ Travis Kelce blasts Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase for Patrick Mahomes comments

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase recently made headlines after taking a public dig at Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Bengals All-Pro wideout propped up his quarterback Joe Burrow while undercutting Mahomes by stating, “Pat Who?”

That didn’t take long for Chiefs’ Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce to defend the two-time Super Bowl MVP.

“It is what it is, dog. Who doesn’t love some good locker room banter, man?” Kelce said via ESPN. “Shoutout to Ja’Marr Chase for holding it down for his QB, but don’t you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes, now. If you wanna talk your s—, talk your s—, pimp. Just better back it up.”

Kelce added: “I thought it was a little bold. [Mahomes] is a two-time league MVP, two-time Super Bowl MVP. To say ‘Pat who?’ is like I don’t know.”

There is a bit of a growing rivalry between the Bengals and Chiefs that is only further underlined by this back-and-forth banter. The two franchises have faced each other in each of the last two AFC championship games with both teams splitting the meetings to reach the Super Bowl.

Mahomes and Burrow are at the forefront, but the intense competition obviously goes much further than that. The Bengals had become a thorn in the Chiefs’ side before the latter topped them in this past season’s AFC title game.

If anything, these back-and-forth comments between the teams add another interesting wrinkle to what’s quickly become one of the NFL’s best-growing rivalries.
