Cowboys owner Jerry Jones defends head coach Jason Garrett
The Dallas Cowboys suffered their second straight loss after falling 34-24 to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon. As a result, Jason Garrett is under fire.
It was a contest that featured several offensive shortcomings that prevented them from truly getting back into the game. Following the game, team owner Jerry Jones chimed in on head coach Jason Garrett receiving a penalty after aggressively throwing the challenge flag, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.

“Oh, I hope the little darling didn’t hear something he hadn’t heard before,” Jones said. “We should all stop the wheel over that if he got [a penalty for] abusive language.”
Side judge Scott Edwards made the penalty call on Garrett. Referee Ron Torbert stated after the game that it was due to abusive language towards the official. It’s typically a call made when this type of behavior occurs during the game. Although, it more often comes from the players spewing that type of talk.

Garrett did voice that he didn’t handle the situation correctly. However it’s a rare instance where the head coach is called for that type of penalty. He threw the challenge flag on a catch that Amari Cooper made with four seconds left in the third quarter, where he was called out of bounds, but the replay showed that he had both feet down.
The frustration on that play initially stemmed from a 39-yard pass interference penalty that was called on cornerback Anthony Brown earlier in the quarter. It’s ultimately a situation that Garrett will learn from to avoid any penalties assessed against him that could put his team in a bad position.
