Eagles QB Carson Wentz admits flaws and that he ‘can be selfish’
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off another successful campaign in which they were able to defy the odds. They did themselves proud with an injured Carson Wentz and a backup quarterback in Nick Foles leading the way. Even though they didn’t go the distance this year, Philadelphia still made an impact. Now, the attention has once again turned to the quarterback position.
With so much talk of the team potentially being better with Foles under center, Wentz was already under fire. However, now the team has decided to keep Wentz as their long-term starter even with a recent report of some bad blood in the locker room concerning the quarterback’s problems being a good teammate.

Wentz addressed this report and admitted he has flaws, namely being selfish at times, via Tim McManus of ESPN.
“It’s never fun to read, but to an extent, you look at it and be like, ‘Well, if someone did have this perception of me, why? What have I done wrong? What can I get better at?'” he said. “I realize I have my shortcomings. Yes, I can be selfish. I think we all have selfishness inside of us. There’s human elements to that, that I really look at and say, ‘Well, I can get better.'”
The talented young quarterback also admitted part of this perception might have been due to how he was determined to return from injury.

“You go through the [ACL] injury, and you’re just 100 percent determined to get back, that’s, like, what my mind is on. And looking back, were there things that maybe I neglected as a teammate and as a friend because I was just so determined and that’s all that mattered?” Wentz said.
At this point, Wentz’s future seems to be secure with the Eagles, but smoothing things over with his teammates might be another story altogether.
