Rob Gronkowski has yet to entirely shoot down the possibility in the various interviews that he has had since then. During a press conference on Tuesday, he voiced that there was still the possibility that he could make his return to the field, but that he wasn’t anywhere near wanting to get back into the fold, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

During the same interview, Gronkowski touched upon an array of topics concerning his NFL future. He also divulged that he has been dealing with lingering physical issues. A common plight for NFL players, they are injuries that have continued to pile up over the last few seasons. This had also led to him experiencing those health issues following Super Bowl 53. Then, he voiced that he was barely able to walk and was crying in bed due to the tremendous pain.

Rob Gronkowski also said that football had become a dark place for him due to his constant health issues. This took away his passion for the game and pushed him away from wanting to play at this point in time.

He has also made it clear that he could return if he wanted to as he believes he is more than physically capable of being able to play. It has also simply come down to the fact that he has been ailed by nagging health issues that have taken away from being mentally committed to the game like he once was.
