J.J. Watt ‘Expected To Play’ In Texans Season Opener Against Bears

The biggest concern for the Houston Texans over the last few months has been the health of superstar defensive end, J.J. Watt. The face the Texans franchise underwent back surgery recently leading uncertainty about his status with the start of the 2016 NFL season approaching.
Fortunately for Houston, it appears that Watt could be ready to take the field when the Texans face the Chicago Bears in the team’s season opener next Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year is no stranger to recovering from injuries quickly. Last season Watt overcame quite a few ailments and was still able to lead the Texans into the postseason. Watt suffered a herniated disk, numerous torn and partially torn muscles as well as a broken hand.
Regardless of all these injuries that would end a season for the average player, Watt pulled through and managed to finish the year with a league-leading 17.5 sacks. Watt will try to replicate his performance from last season while battling back from offseason back surgery.
Currently, the Texans are favored to come out on top against the Bears in Week 1. Houston is sporting a -6 point spread, according to Sportsbook.ag. If Watt is ultimately given the green light before next Sunday, that spread could increase.
With or without Watt, the Texans will likely win their season opener against the Bears. Houston is a better all-around team and will show that by covering the spread with ease next Sunday on their home field at NRG Stadium.
