Jets wideout Quincy Enunwa won’t play in 2020

It has been a difficult last couple of years for New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa due to a lingering neck injury.

The situation has taken another disappointing turn as the Jets placed him on the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday, which puts him out of the mix for the 2020 season, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

It has been a tough going for Enunwa in his quest to get back onto the field over the last few seasons. He missed the 2017 season due to neck surgery, which he reinjured it back in the season opener in the 2019 campaign.

Since then, he hasn’t seen the football field as he has worked through the offseason in hopes of continuing his career. However, this is a significant setback that will likely end his tenure with the Jets. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $36 million deal that does contain an out after the 2020 season that will have a $9.6 million dead cap hit for the 2021 campaign.

That is likely the route the team will take with his deal as there is no clarity as to when he will be able to play again. It’s another disappointing turn to what was shaping up to be a promising career.
