JK Dobbins expresses frustration over contract talks with Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have a brewing situation on their hands with running back J.K. Dobbins.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his rookie deal, eyeing a new contract with the Ravens. Dobbins has already skipped out on mandatory minicamp this week with hopes of pushing toward resolving the matter.
However, it has led him to voice his frustration with the lack of movement toward a new deal.

“The business side is very hard. It’s very different,” Dobbins told WJZ-TV on Thursday via ESPN. “You saw with Lamar [Jackson] … It’s never just roses and daisies. It can be hard at times and it’s business though.”
Lamar Jackson’s situation has shed more light on the difficulties of securing a lucrative contract with the Ravens. Although Dobbins isn’t quite the player Jackson is, he believes that he has shown enough to earn a new deal.
It’s hard to follow the path of his argument due to his struggles with injuries through his first three NFL seasons. After playing in 15 games in his rookie campaign, he missed the 2021 season due to a significant left knee injury.

He also missed six games last year due to undergoing arthroscopic surgery on the same knee. Dobbins hasn’t been able to stay on the field, missing more games (27) than games played (23) in his first three seasons.
The Ravens are likely operating under the notion that they want to see what the Ohio State product can show in the final year of his contract. Dobbins may want a new deal but his hands are tied.
