JuJu Smith-Schuster says Chiefs’ Andy Reid recruited him with ‘Lombardi Trophy pictures’
The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the fastest and most talented offenses in the NFL right now. They tried to get even better during the offseason by recruiting Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Ultimately, Smith-Schuster decided to return to the Steelers. However, the Chiefs gave it a shot. Head coach Andy Reid pulled out all the stops with his recruiting tactic. Smith-Schuster revealed how Reid recruited him on The Michael Irvin Podcast, via 610 Sports Radio.

“Andy Reid was just calling me and he was sending me Lombardi Trophy pictures, like constantly,” Smith-Schuster said on “The Michael Irvin Podcast” with a laugh. “We had a good talk, so it would have been KC after the Steelers.
“Like, he texted [Lombardi Trophy pictures] to me while I was trying to make a decision, and you know I have so much respect for him and his team, so yeah.”
Obviously, Reid’s pitch fell short. All signs pointed to Smith-Schuster heading else as he appeared to make it clear that he wasn’t going to return to Pittsburgh, but he apparently had a change of heart.

As for the Chiefs, Kansas City will remain the team to beat in the NFL along with Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are coming off a Super Bowl title after only one year together with the superstar quarterback under center.
The Steelers, however, will be in for an interesting and potentially difficult 2021 campaign. Ben Roethlisberger will return for another season along with Smith-Schuster, but there’s no telling how things will turn out.
