Marshawn Lynch calls it a ‘great feeling’ to be back with Seahawks

After a short stint with his hometown Oakland Raiders, it seemed that potential Hall of Fame running back Marshawn Lynch was done with the NFL. Lynch appeared to have walked off into the sunset without saying much and that was a common occurrence for the man of few words.

However, with the Seattle Seahawks banged up at the running back position as they prepare for the NFL playoffs, Lynch’s name started to come up as a distinct possibility for Pete Carroll and company. That possibility became a reality very quickly when Lynch was interested in a reunion with his former team. It didn’t take long for the signing to come to fruition and now he’s back with the Seahawks.

The veteran back only had a few things to say once he was formally introduced by Seattle earlier this week and it was classic Lynch, via Brady Henderson of ESPN.

Asked what brought him back to Seattle, Lynch shared a brief message, smiled and walked away.

“Happy holidays,” he said. “Merry New Year. Y’all have a great day. It’s a great feeling to be back. Thank you.”

Carroll talked about Lynch’s role with the team moving forward and what he’s seen so far from the veteran running back.

“We’ll find out how he can play and how he does,” Carroll said. “It’s been a little while off. He looks great in [our] first couple of looks at him as far as his conditioning and all that. His weight’s down and he’s in a really good spot for coming and going for it. He was very serious about getting ready for this opportunity. The stroke of misfortune in some regards really opens up the door, which happens at times. He’s ready to take the full opportunity at hand and see what he can do to help us.”

Whether Lynch can play a significant role for the Seahawks remains to be seen. An aging running back trying to jump right back into the swing of things is no easy task, but only time will tell if he can have one more strong playoff run with the Seahawks before calling it a career.
