NFL News: Former NBA Star Nate Robinson Will Try Out For Seatlle Seahawks
After over a decade in the NBA, three-time Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson decided to try his luck overseas playing for Hapoel Tel Aviv. Although Robinson didn’t miss a beat while playing in Israel, the 32-year-old appears to be making a career change.
According to Master Tesfatsion and Mark Maske of the Washington Post, Robinson will go through a tryout to make the roster of the Seattle Seahawks:
Former NBA point guard Nate Robinson will try out for the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, according to two people close to the situation. Robinson will try out with the team as a defensive back. It’s his first tryout with an NFL team as the 32-year-old has previously expressed interest in pursuing an NFL career.
Robinson didn’t wake up one day and decide to pick up football without any experience. The former NBA star played football as well as basketball back in college, via Tesfatsion and Maske:
Robinson, a Seattle native, last played football at the University of Washington in 2002. He played in all 13 games at cornerback, starting in the final six games of the season, before dropping the sport and focusing on basketball.
With Seattle having one of the elite defenses in the NFL today, it will be no easy task for the former college cornerback to make the squad. The Seahawks pride themselves on that side of the football and Robinson will have to turn some heads during his tryout to receive consideration from head coach Pete Carroll and company.
The Seahawks will be one of the teams to beat in the NFC once again in 2016 with their stout defense leading the way.
