NFL Week 1: 5 games to bet the favorite
With NFL Week 1 nearly here, it’s finally time to start betting previews again. We take a look at five games to bet the favorite in NFL Week 1.
5. Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears (-3)
The Packers might be very good this season. Still, this is a brutal spot for the new tandem of head coach Matt LaFleur and quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The duo will be on the road against the league’s best defense in front of a national TV audience and a loud fanbase. Chicago should also be working off plenty of confidence after last season. If there’s any revenge to be had, though, it’s against the Packers. Green Bay erased a 20-0 deficit last year in NFL Week 1 on Sunday Night Football, albeit at Lambeau Field.

4. Buffalo Bills at New York Jets (-3)
Buffalo should be improved this season. However, the Jets should be much-improved. The Bills won’t have the luxury of seeing how Adam Gase is going to work in all his new weapons. New York now has running back Le’Veon Bell, a better offensive line with center Ryan Kalil and guard Kelechi Osemele, along with slot receiver Jamison Crowder. Not having any film on that group works against a young Bills team, which has a shaky offense going on the road.
3. Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns (-6)
Tough to take the Titans in this spot. For starters, the Browns have a loaded offense with quarterback Baker Mayfield, running back Nick Chubb and receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. Additionally, Cleveland features a fierce pass rush and the Titans will be without star left tackle Taylor Lewan, who is suspended the first four games. If Tennessee is going to pull the road upset, it will be with Cleveland making mistakes and Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota out-dueling Mayfield.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars
This is the only road favorite in the group. The Chiefs went 12-4 last year and scored the most points of any team in football. While Jacksonville has a terrific defense, this is an enormous ask. Furthermore, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is notorious for having clever wrinkles early in the season. Â The Jaguars have the misfortune of having no tape on Reid’s offense, which is something akin to an aerial circus.
1. Houston Texans at New Orleans Saints (-7)
Brutal spot for the Texans. Houston has the worst offensive line in football and has to go on the road, on Monday Night Football, and try to communicate against a quality Saints front. If New Orleans gets up early in the game and forces Houston into obvious passing downs, this could devolve into a blowout.
