NFL Week 2: 5 best games to watch on Sunday
5. Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
A nice AFC South matchup to get the list going. Indianapolis is 0-1 but played well against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, losing a 30-24 overtime affair. If the Colts play that well each game and get a better performance out of future Hall of Fame kicker Adam Vinatieri, they should be golden. Meanwhile, the Titans are trying to prove their 43-13 beating of the Cleveland Browns is no fluke. If Tennessee wins, it’s off to a 2-0 start and leading the South. It’s early, but a nice start is always important.
4. Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons
Sunday night gives us Atlanta opening up its home slate against the Eagles. The Falcons have to win or face the reality of an 0-2 start in the ultra-competitive NFC. If it is going to notch the victory, Atlanta somehow needs to control the line of scrimmage against one of the strongest teams in the trenches. If the Eagles can get push, the Falcons will need to scheme their way to an all-important win. For Philadelphia, getting to 2-0 is key in the tough NFC East, with the Dallas Cowboys being their main competition.
3. Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers
Usually interconference games don’t rank so high on my lists with the way tiebreakers work in the NFL, but this is a big one. Seattle could move to 2-0 and really make a statement by beating the Steelers in their own building. Pittsburgh desperately needs to beat the Seahawks after being plastered 33-3 by the New England Patriots in primetime a week ago. A loss would be crushing.
2. New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams
A rematch of the infamous NFC Championship Game. This time, the contest is in sunny California, with each team attempting to win what could be a crucial tilt as tiebreakers come into play this winter. Both teams are 1-0 but have an opportunity to stake an early claim as the NFC favorite to play in Super Bowl LIV.
1. Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
This is the best game with the most implications. The Packers and Vikings both looked terrific in Week 1, and now link up at Lambeau Field. The question is which team did a better job upgrading its coaching staff this offseason? Minnesota added Gary Kubiak and Rick Dennison to refuel the run game. Green Bay replaced Mike McCarthy with Matt LaFleur. Which staff wins out on Sunday in an NFC North matchup?
