NFL Week 3 schedule: 5 games for upset alert

NFL Week 3 throws up some potential upsets for bettors to cash in on. We take a look at five tricky games for the favorites in NFL Week 3.

5. Los Angeles Rams (+2) at Buffalo Bills

As it worked out, we’re looking at five NFC teams for upsets. We start with the Rams, who are 2-0 and looking to stay undefeated as the calendar turns to October. While Buffalo is home and certainly a quality team at 2-0 itself, the Bills have beaten theMiami Dolphins and New York Jets. They’re a combined 0-4, and New York would be lucky to win two games all year. This is a big test for both sides, but the Rams have the better pass rush and a battle-tested quarterback.

4. Detroit Lions (+5.5) at Arizona Cardinals

This is the classic game where a young, talented team getting some success overlooks an opponent. The Lions should be 1-1 if not for that comical meltdown — and awful drop by D’Andre Swift — against the Chicago Bears. Meanwhile, Arizona is 2-0 and suddenly the talk of the league. While the Cardinals are certainly the superior team, the Lions have a mixture of sneaking up and desperation going for them.

3. Minnesota Vikings (+2.5) vs. Tennessee Titans

You can see this coming. The Vikings have been utterly atrocious this year, but they have talent on both sides of the football. They area also home this week and now that another loss essentially buries them before the season begins. Meanwhile, Tennessee is 2-0 but barely beat the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars. The Titans are a good team, but they shouldn’t be favored on the road against Minnesota.

2. New York Giants (+3.5) vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Giants would have absolutely no chance — no chance — against the 49ers if they were healthy. However, no team is more banged up than San Francisco, which is missing defensive linemen Solomon Thomas and Joey Bosa, cornerback Richard Sherman, edge rusher Dee Ford, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle, running back Raheem Mostert and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. If the Giants can’t handle Nick Mullens and a litany of backups at home, just give it up.

1. Green Bay Packers (+3) at New Orleans Saints

Why are the Packers not the favorites in this game? There won’t be fans, the Saints have looked bad in both their games thus far despite being 1-1, and Drew Brees is throwing one checkdown after the next. It’s been ugly. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers looks rejuvenated after the team drafted Jordan Love in the first round. It’s hard to see New Orleans keeping up with Green Bay the way the two quarterbacks are playing.
