NFL Week 7 betting odds: 5 favorites to believe in

The NFL Week 7 slate is packed with excellent games and some juicy lines. Here are five favorites worth laying something on the line for.

5. Los Angeles Chargers (-7.5) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Great spot for Los Angeles. The Jaguars have lost five straight and now come all the way across the country to play the Chargers, who are coming off their bye. While Los Angeles is 1-4 and in the AFC West basement, this is a team that had double-digit leads against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs in the second halves of those affairs. Justin Herbert and Co. can play, and they’ll roll the inferior Jaguars.

4. Buffalo Bills (-13) at New York Jets

Any team playing the Jets should immediately be on any list worth betting. New York is not only 0-6, but it hasn’t covered in any of the losses. Most of the time, it hasn’t been close. The Bills are coming off a pair of tough defeats against the Tennessee Titans and Chiefs. Now, at 4-2, they desperately need a win and luck into playing the Jets at MetLife Stadium. Look for a blowout.

3. New Orleans Saints (-7.5) vs. Carolina Panthers

Like the Chargers, the Saints are coming off their bye week. They also are at home against an inferior team, albeit Carolina, which is far more potent than Jacksonville. The Panthers have been able to succeed to an extent by throwing short with Teddy Bridgewater and playing solid defense.

If Drew Brees can stretch the field a bit with Emmanuel Sanders and reestablish his connection with Michael Thomas, this should be a game where New Orleans gets ahead, forces a few mistakes and capitalizes against an old friend in Bridgewater.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (-9.5) at Denver Broncos

Another big number, but this is a mixture of mismatch and history. Last year, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio got two cracks at the Chiefs in his first campaign at the helm. Denver lost 30-7 and 23-3, the latter with Drew Lock under center. Kansas City remains the league’s best team and while it is on a short week and away from home, the Broncos don’t match up with Kansas City’s offensive attack.

1. Green Bay Packers (-3.5) at Houston Texans

Why are the Texans only getting 3.5 here? Green Bay was arguably the league’s best squad until being beaten 38-10 by the Buccaneers. Now, the Packers come in angry and get a Houston team which allowed 601 yards to the Titans on Sunday. This is the lock of the week.
