NFL Week 9 games: 5 best bets on underdogs
The NFL Week 9 games are underway, and we take a glance at which five underdogs are the best bets to cover and perhaps win.
5. Houston Texans (+5.5) at Miami Dolphins
The Texans have to be on the list, if for no other reason because the Dolphins also only have one win and neither has won a game since Week 1. Now, Houston is getting Tyrod Taylor back after missing nearly two months, giving the Texans the better quarterback in the matchup. Finally, the Dolphins are likely going be without star wide receivers DeVante Parker, giving us another reason to fade Miami here.

4. Minnesota Vikings (+6) at Baltimore Ravens
This is more about the number, and the unpredictability of both teams. The Ravens are 5-2 but three wins came when the Indianapolis Colts blew a 22-3 lead, Justin Tucker needed to hit a 66-yard field goal at the gun, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire fumbled in the final two minutes. Meanwhile, the Vikings also needed a last-minute field goal to beat the Detroit Lions, and have also lost to Cooper Rush. Neither one of these teams can be trusted to cover a touchdown.
3. Chicago Bears (+6.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers
Again, all about the number. Neither team can score, and the Bears getting 6.5 points makes you think about a low-scoring, tight affair. After all, Pittsburgh beat the Cleveland Browns 15-10 last week and in their previous game, needed overtime to beat the Seattle Seahawks, at home, with Geno Smith. The Steelers are the better team and should win, but Chicago has enough juice between its defense and rushing attack to keep things interesting.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (+1.5) vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Philadelphia is a very live dog here. The Chargers are without corners Michael Davis and Asante Samuel Jr., potentially allowing Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to have a big game. Additionally, Los Angeles has the worst run defense in the league, which should play into the hands of head coach Nick Sirianni, who sticks to the run game more than any other coach. The Chargers also have to go across the country, making things all the more difficult.
1. Atlanta Falcons (+6) at New Orleans Saints
The Falcons aren’t good, but they have Matt Ryan and the Saints are rolling with Trevor Siemian under center. This screams close game, especially considering the two are heated rivals dating back to the late-’60s. Tough to see Siemian pulling away, even if New Orleans is the better squad at home.
