NFL Week 9 schedule: 5 best games to watch

Taking a glance at the NFL Week 9 schedule, we break down five games that will define the weekend of pigskin ahead.

5. Los Angeles Chargers (-1.5) at Philadelphia Eagles

A sneaky-good game here. The Chargers have lost two straight and now go across the country to take on the Eagles, who at 3-5 are in the mix for a wild card spot in the wide-open NFC picture. Los Angeles has been terrible both defensively and on special teams, places where the Eagles can make a move to both stay in and potentially win. If the Chargers can’t beat Jalen Hurts and Co., do they even make the playoffs?

4. Minnesota Vikings at Baltimore Ravens (-6)

The Ravens are coming off their bye week and are trying to stay ahead of a very tight AFC North. At 5-2, Baltimore is a half-game ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals while staying a game ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers and 1.5 games in front of the Cleveland Browns. With a win over Minnesota, the Ravens would gain a game over the loser of Cleveland-Cincinnati, while winning a game against a decent team in the Vikings.

3. Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5)

Who wins this clash in the AFC North? As outlined above, both the Bengals and Browns are chasing the Ravens, and the loser here is reeling a bit. Cleveland beat Cincinnati twice last season, both games being one-score affairs. Can the Browns get it done for a third consecutive time against Joe Burrow? It would be a huge win and put some of the murmurs to rest about Cleveland falling apart as we head for the second half of the season.

2. Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs (-7.5)

This would have been the top game, but then Aaron Rodgers was ruled out for COVID-19. Without Rodgers, the game still has ample intrigue. Can Jordan Love go into Arrowhead Stadium and beat Patrick Mahomes in his first start? Can the Chiefs finally get right and handle business as a big favorite at home, something they’ve yet to do in 2021? Love and Kansas City both have tons of prove. Which one does it?

1. Tennessee Titans at Los Angeles Rams (-7.5)

The Rams are a Super Bowl favorite while Tennessee is trying to find an identity without Derrick Henry. If the Titans win this game, they vault to the top of the contender heap. If the Rams blow Tennessee out, it’s another notch in their belt as they try to host the Super Bowl in February at SoFi Stadium.
