Nick Chubb says new contract with Browns ‘would mean a lot’
Through his first three NFL seasons, Cleveland Browns’ running back Nick Chubb has become a significant offensive factor.
However, Chubb remains without a new deal as he enters the final year of his four-year rookie deal. According to Jake Trotter of ESPN, the Georgia product voiced how meaningful a new contract will be to him.

“It would mean a lot,” said Chubb, who said that his agent and the team have already discussed a potential extension this offseason. “Cleveland drafted me and trusted me and put their faith in me to help build this culture and this team I’m a part of. Cleveland is where I want to be. Hopefully everything can work out in that direction.”
Chubb clearly wants to be a long-term piece in the Browns’ future. He’s become an essential piece to the core group that helped push Cleveland to a playoff berth for the first time in nearly two decades.

The 25-year-old is coming off another productive campaign with 1,067 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. It marks Chubb’s second straight year posting at least 1,000 rushing yards. He recorded 3,557 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns in his first three seasons.
The Browns can work out an extension with Chubb at any point before next offseason. Kareem Hunt’s presence likely doesn’t help his case to earn a lucrative long-term deal. Hunt is coming off a productive campaign in a split-carry role with 841 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.
The 25-year-old inked a two-year extension worth $13.25 million that keeps him under contract through 2022.
