AFC power rankings, Week 4: Patriots, Chiefs on top

16. Miami Dolphins

This isn’t going to change anytime soon. The Dolphins appear well on their way to being one of the worst teams in NFL history.

15. New York Jets

The Jets have been overcome by injuries, but the coaching has been bad, the play has been hideous, etc. Just a horrid season for Gang Green.

14. Cincinnati Bengals

Nobody expected much from the Bengals. This is a good thing, since they’ve given us and their fan base absolutely nothing but losses.

13. Denver Broncos

How does a defense with Von Miller and Bradley Chubb not have a sack or turnover through three games? Vic Fangio was hired as head coach to bring his defensive knowledge, and so far it’s been terrible.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers

Without Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers have no chance. Mason Rudolph proved that in spades last Sunday.

11. Oakland Raiders

Jon Gruden still has another eight years after this one remaining on his contract. Whew.

10. Tennessee Titans

The Titans turned heads when they beat the Browns in Cleveland by 30 points in Week 1. Since then, a home loss to the Colts followed by an atrocious performance down in Jacksonville.

9. Jacksonville Jaguars

Gardner Minshew actually looks like he could be a long-term answer for the Jaguars. The defense is terrific as well, although it would be better if Jalen Ramsey was around.

8. Cleveland Browns

Baker Mayfield and Freddie Kitchens need to both be much, much better.

7. Los Angeles Chargers

How is a team this talented 1-2? Granted, we seem to ask the same rendition of this question about the Chargers more seasons than not, but here we are.

6. Houston Texans

Houston makes you think it can win any game. It also makes you think it can lose any game. Ultimately, Deshaun Watson usually overcomes the nonsense to win.

5. Indianapolis Colts

Jacoby Brissett isn’t Andrew Luck, but he’s doing a damn fine job replacing him. The Colts look like the favorite I the AFC South.

4. Buffalo Bills

We’re going to know so much more about the Bills after this weekend, when they host the Patriots.

3. Baltimore Ravens

Even though the Ravens lost to the Chiefs at Arrowhead last week, they acquitted themselves well. No reason to think Baltimore is going away quietly.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

The offense is absurd and the defense is improved with more room to grow. Also, Patrick Mahomes might throw for 6,000 yards by Week 16.

1. New England Patriots

Until further notice, the best team in football. Only Kansas City can challenge the Patriots.
