Panthers QB Cam Newton dealing with another foot injury
The Carolina Panthers have gotten off to a rough start to the season. Ominously, they’ve dropped their first two games both at home.
Much of the focus has been centered around the health of star quarterback Cam Newton. It hasn’t escaped notice that he performed notably differently through the first couple of contests. Things have taken another discouraging turn for the Panthers as Newton many miss Week 3 action against the Arizona Cardinals due to an aggravation of the foot injury that he suffered in the preseason, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

Newton aggravated the foot injury that he suffered in the preseason and may not be able to go on Sunday against the Cardinals, NFL Network reports.
This only adds to what has been a disappointing start to the year for the Panthers. Newton has notably played with limitation to his game as he struggled to throw the ball down the field. As a result, he uncharacteristically missed open receivers by several yards.
There was also the absence of the use of Newton in the red zone with his legs, which has been a staple for the offense with him under center. His possible absence will put them without the key cog to their game plan. Meanwhile, backup Kyle Allen is in line to get the start as rookie Will Grier struggled mightily in his limited action in the preseason.

The Panthers should have more clarity on this entire situation in the coming days. As a result, the team will likely take a precautionary approach with Newton moving forward.
