Josh McDaniels is set to embark on his first campaign at the helm for the Las Vegas Raiders. All that has left the Patriots looking to find a playoff-caliber game plan.

In New England’s preseason opener against the New York Giants on Thursday night, Matt Patricia and Joe Judge shared that responsibility. After the game, head coach Bill Belichick voiced that the team is working through finding the formula for the offensive play calling for the 2022 season.
“Yeah, well, we did this game. We did a lot of things in this game that are going to be beneficial in the long run, whether it was on the coaching staff, playing time, players that played and so forth. That’s all part of the process,” Belichick said via Pro Football Talk.
The Patriots are going to use the preseason action to see whether having either Patricia, Judge, or both share the role works best. The offensive game plan will likely remain the same. Although New England doesn’t want to prevent themselves from taking a step forward with second-year quarterback Mac Jones.
