Patriots’ Bill Belichick says ‘there’s no magic sauce’ for winning in the NFL
The New England Patriots have quickly stumbled into a disappointing start to begin the 2021 season.
New England fell to a 28-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints, dropping to a 1-2 record before facing Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3 action.

Rookie Mac Jones struggled against the Saints, throwing three interceptions while the Patriots rushed for only 49 yards. After the loss, head coach Bill Belichick dished out a dose of reality to his team.
“We’ve just got to play more consistently,” Belichick said via Pro Football Talk. “We’ve got to play with more good plays out there and not as many that aren’t good. That’s what we have to do. We had some chances, but in the end, we just couldn’t get it done. It’s disappointing. There’s no magic sauce here. Just have to go back to work and do better.”
It may be early in the season, but things can certainly quickly turn sideways. The Patriots could easily head into a 1-3 start, especially with Brady looking to stick it to his former team in his first trip back to New England as an opposing player.

The team needs more consistency from Jones as he’s the anchor point for the Patriots’ offensive game plan. He will have bumps along the way, but New England needs him to provide stability.
Meanwhile, the defense needs to step up to provide more consistent play to offset some of the pressure on Jones’ shoulder. Time is on the Patriots’ side, but the clock is ticking.
