Saints star RB Alvin Kamara may play in regular-season finale
The New Orleans Saints head into the season finale matchup against the Atlanta Falcons with the chance to earn a playoff spot.
However, the Saints may likely have to go that route without star running back Alvin Kamara due to an ankle injury. Kamara is a game-time decision for Sunday’s contest after he sprained his ankle against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The former Pro Bowler missed the entire week of practice, but there remains the possibility that he will take the field against the Falcons.
“He’s one of those guys that is so valuable to our team that we’re going to go all the way up to game time to see where he’s at,” head coach Dennis Allen said via ESPN. “He’s made improvement throughout the week, and we’ll just wait until game time to make a decision on that.”
Kamara has played in 13 games where he’s posted 694 rushing yards in 13 games, which is currently a career-low mark if he doesn’t play against Atlanta. He also has 75 receptions for 466 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
He has been a significant offensive factor despite his drop-off in production. If Kamara is unable to play, then Jamaal Williams or Kendre Miller will fill the void.

All of this puts more pressure on Derek Carr to lead the charge to give the Saints a chance at earning a playoff position. New Orleans can win the NFC South division title with a win along with a loss or a tie by Tampa Bay or by tying Atlanta combined with a loss by the Buccaneers.
The Saints also hold the scenario of earning a wild-card spot with a win or tie along with losses from both the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.
