Seahawks’ Zach Charbonnet set to miss the rest of the season
The Seattle Seahawks are on the doorstep of reaching the Super Bowl, but that path forward in the NFC championship against the Los Angeles Rams will be without running back Zach Charbonnet.
Head coach Mike Macdonald announced on Monday that the UCLA product will need surgery to repair a torn ACL.
“It breaks your heart,” Macdonald said via ESPN. “He’s going to need surgery. So, he has … got a good long road to come back. Our heart goes out to him. Prayers go out to Charbs. We love him, man.”
Charbonnet suffered the injury in the blowout 41-6 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional playoff game this past Saturday.
It marks a significant blow to the Seahawks’ running game as the 2023 second-round selection has become a primary offensive piece. In the regular season, he rushed for 730 yards with a team-high 12 touchdowns on 184 carries in 16 games.
Charbonnet proved to be a vital piece alongside Kenneth Walker as the two formed one of the league’s most productive backfields. His absence places significant pressure on Walker to lead the charge in the NFC championship game.

Walker is coming off a strong performance in the win over the 49ers, recording 116 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries before being pulled with the starters in the fourth quarter.
He will likely see a bigger workload to help push the Seahawks past the Rams. Seattle could turn to Velus Jones Jr., George Holani, and Cam Akers to provide additional production.
