Yanks Underdogs Against A’s, Rangers Favorites Against Sox
Narrowing down what MLB games to bet on is a challenge for all bettors. Two games, however, standout strong today as the New York Yankees head to Oakland and the Texas Rangers host the Boston Red Sox.
Yankees @ A’s
The Yankees are the underdogs against Oakland with a +132 moneyline. The A’s have a –142 moneyline.
The Yankees were riding a wave of momentum into this series after a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals. They took a 5-4 loss to Oakland as favorites to start this series and break a three-game win streak. New York may be undervalued here after taking the close loss to the A’s who have shown themselves to be inconsistent all season.
Oakland has been having a rocky season. They show flashes of being a major contender like beating the Yankees in Game 1 of this series, however, they currently sit at the bottom of the American League. Having home field will not help the A’s as they have a 6-17 record when playing in Oakland.
Chris Capuano will be taking the ball for the Yankees. He has yet to pitch through five innings in his first two starts since joining the rotations. In his last outing, he gave up three runs over 4 1/3 innings against the Rangers. Capuano has a 7.36 ERA in his short time as a starting pitcher.
Sonny Gray will take the mound for the Athletics. Gray had to exit the game early due to a ball bruising his ankle. He threw five scoreless innings up until that point. He has a 1.77 ERA and his 5-2 this season.
Red Sox @ Rangers
The Rangers have a –129 moneyline against Boston who sit as underdogs with a +119 moneyline.
The Rangers undervalued as underdogs in the first game of this series and made smart bettors some money with a 5-1 win against the Red Sox.
The Red Sox are struggling to find a solid pitching rotation. Their last series saw them swept by the Minnesota Twins with pitching being a major issue throughout the series.
Yovani Gallardo will start for the Rnagers. He has some experience against Boston. The last time he pitched against them he allowed four runs over five innings in a 4-3 loss. He has an overall ERA of 4.13 and is 4-6 this season.
Boston will counter Gallardo with Steven Wright. Wright is making only his fifth career start. He replaced Justin Masterson in the rotation who is on the disabled list. Wright’s overall ERA is 3.68.
