Clay Matthews To Colin Kaepernick: ‘You Ain’t Russell Wilson, Bro’
The San Francisco 49ers went through some drastic changes during the NFL offseason. Quite a few big-name players on the team either headed elsewhere in free agency or simply retired for one reason or another. All of this followed head coach Jim Harbaugh leaving the team and ultimately ending up going back to the college level to coach the Michigan Wolverines.
After the dust settled in San Francisco, all the pressure seemed to be on quarterback Colin Kaepernick to lead the way. Unfortunately, after the first four weeks of the 2015 campaign, the 49ers are sitting at 1-3 with little hope to turning things around. Kaepernick has shouldered a lot of the blame and things got worse for the quarterback on Sunday with Clay Matthews making headlines at his expense.
During the Green Bay Packers’ win over the 49ers, Matthews sacked Kaepernick and had a few choose words for the quarterback as he headed back to his team’s huddle, via ESPN:
TV cameras on the Fox broadcast picked up sound of Packers linebacker Clay Matthews shouting at Kaepernick: “You ain’t Russell Wilson, bro.”
The Packers didn’t crush the 49ers like that have their other opponents this season scoring only 17 points, but they got the job done on the road at Levi’s Stadium. Green Bay sacked Kaepernick six times during their fourth win of the season and continue to prove they’re one of the best teams in the NFL this year.
As for the 49ers, more changes could be on the horizon with Kaepernick failing to live up to expectations thus far. There’s been no indication as to whether Kaepernick will be benched or not, but it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility with the team only winning one game thus far.
