Chicago Bears Must Win in San Diego Monday Night
The NFC North Chicago Bears have traveled across the country to southern California to take on the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football.
The line at this time has San Diego as 4.5-point chalk with the point total for the over/under resting on 49.5.
The Chicago Bears will have to face the San Diego Chargers without their most versatile force on offense as Matt Forte the running back and receiver will sit out due to a knee injury.
San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers and the rest of the injury riddled and often inconsistent Chargers will look to run up the score on the Bears.
The Bears, led by quarterback Jay Cutler, are 2-5 straight and 3-4 against the spread, but are 7-3 SU and a strong 7-2-1 ATS over their past 10 games played in AFC stadiums.
The Bears are also 4-0 SU over their past four games during Week 9.
Jeremy Langford will fill in for Forte and receive the bulk of the workload on offense. The struggling Bears offensive line will be facing a weak defense for the Chargers, which is ranked No. 29 in efficiency and No. 32 against the run.
Cutler could look downfield to Alshon Jeffrey a wide receiver and Martellus Bennett his tight end as the best defender San Diego has Eric Weedle at free safety is slowed with a groin injury.
John Fox the head coach for the Bears is 8-3 as a head coach versus San Diego.
Rivers has kept the Chargers in games but overall San Diego is just 2-6 SU as well as 3-5 ATS.
The Chargers quarterback, who is one of the best in the league, will face a weak Chicago defense. The Bears are ranked No. 28 in defensive efficiency and the quick release of Rivers will likely render the weak pass for Chicago a nonfactor.
San Diego is 7-3 SU and 5-5 ATS over its past 10 games at home against NFC opponents.
However, San Diego is 0-5 ATS over its past 5 games following a win against the spread.
Rivers will not have his favorite target Keenan Allen who lacerated his kidney and is out for the season.
Prediction: Chicago will have problems generating offense without Forte, while Philip Rivers combing the run and pass should put big numbers on the board for San Diego. Take the Chargers less the 4.5.
