LeBron James Wants To Create Another NBA Squad Filled With Superstars
With every passing day, it seems as though LeBron James is warming up to the idea of changing teams in NBA free agency once again. James has dropped all sorts of hints over the past couple of months that things aren’t going well with the Cleveland Cavaliers and may have dropped his biggest indication that a change is on the horizon this week.
According to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report, LeBron would love to create another squad filled with superstar talent. James said the following about his hope to join some of his closest friends around the NBA at some point before he retires:
“I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together,†James said. “At least one, maybe one or two seasons—me, Melo, D-Wade, CP—we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that.â€
“It would be pretty cool,†James said. “I’ve definitely had thoughts about it.â€
Although LeBron says he wants to join forces with Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul before he retires, the thought of jumping ship in Cleveland in order to attempt to make this foursome possible might be what he’s thinking with the offseason looming.
James has the option to opt out of his contract with the Cavaliers this summer and may elect to do so even if he doesn’t intend on leaving Cleveland for the second time. LeBron will want to maximize the amount of money he can make in order to take advantage of the NBA salary jump.
The Cavaliers, however, could try to accommodate LeBron yet again. Cleveland could try to make trades in order to get closer to this star-studded squad that James desires to play with. Anthony has been rumored to want out of New York and Paul has also been mentioned in rumors in a swap for Kyrie Irving. Wade, on the other hand, will become a free agent this summer.
As LeBron has proven in the past, anything can happen once free agency rolls around. Obviously, this superstar scenario is a bit of a stretch, but so was Wade, Chris Bosh, and James joining forces in South Beach.
