NFC East Update
There is a lot happening in the world of football right now, but let’s hone our focus on the NFC East for some updates of what we can expect as we go forward into Week 5.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are currently 2-2 and are only one win and a Philadelphia Eagles loss from sitting on top of their division. The only problem is the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants are also at 2-2. Also, for some reason, thing just feel like they are going to get worse in Dallas before they get better.
There are even rumblings in Dallas of replacing head coach Jason Garrett with shunned New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton. Again this is just grain in the rumor mill, so take it with a grain of salt, pun intended.
The Cowboys of a bye week this week so they will have some time to get it together before getting back to football.
New York Giants
Over in New York, The Giants have to feel good about Eli Manning’s performance as of late. They can’t feel good, though, about the way they have been defending the run. The Giants will feel good about going up against the 0-4 Cleavland Brown on Sunday, regardless of their defensive woes. They are the overwhelming favorites to defeat the winless team.
The moneyline on betonline.com for this game is at -375 for the Giants and at +315 for the Browns. The point spread is -7.5 for the Giants to cover. The over/under is at 44 points.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are winning games, but we cannot discount how incredibly lucky they have been to win said games up to this point. Every game they have won this season has been by a 1-2 point margin. Riding on luck as opposed to skill will only get you so far. Their performance needs to catch up to their luck before their luck runs out.
There is still some Eagles fans calling for the drop of Michael Vick in favor of Nick Foles, despite a decent showing from Vick in their last game against the Giants. Also head coach Andy Reid has remained adamant that Vick is the Eagles starter.
The Eagles Week 5 game is against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They will face a challenge in the Steelers offense and will also have to look out for the potential return of Troy Polamalu.
The Eagles are the underdogs in their game against the Steelers according to betonline.com. The current line has the Eagles at +100 and the Steelers at -120. The point spread is currently at 3. The over under for the game is 43 points.
Washington Redskins
Robert Griffin III has been very impressive in his rookie season. He may soon rival Eli Manning as the best quarterback in the NFC East. He and his team will have to overcome a huge hurdle on Sunday, though, against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have limited all quarterback who have went up against them to below 300 yards all season. In other words, the Falcons pass defense is really good.
Expect the Redskins to keep the ball on the ground. RGIII may even get upper double digits, lower triple digit rushing yards in this game.
The sportsbook at betonline.com does not look favorable on the Redskins chances in this game, though. Redskins moneyline is at +140 while the Falcons line sits at -160. The over/under is also the second highest over/under for any other game on Sunday at 50.5.
