Lakers’ LeBron James reacts to scoring streak coming to an end

After 1,297 consecutive games, Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James saw his NBA record of double-digit scoring outings come to an end.

James fell two points shy of extending the streak in the 123-120 road win over the Toronto Raptors.

He had an opportunity to take the game-winning shot that could have seen him make the mark, but he chose to pass the ball to Rui Hachimura, who hit the buzzer-beating 3-pointer to secure the Lakers the win.

After the game, James kept it simple when asked about what he thought about his historic record being snapped.

“None,” James said via ESPN. “We won.”

It came to a poetic end as James’ passing the ball in that crucial moment has been something that he has been routinely criticized for on many occasions throughout his career.

“Just playing the game the right way. You always make the right play,” James said. “That’s just been my M.O. That’s how I was taught the game. I’ve done that my whole career.”

James had plenty of opportunities to reach that mark before that last play of the game, as he struggled with his shot all night. He finished the night hitting 3-of-15 shots, which featured him tying the game with 1:46 left, then he missed his final attempt on a 14-foot shot with 1:01 remaining in regulation.

His streak began on Jan. 6, 2007, and extended for more than 18 years, with Michael Jordan holding the second-longest such mark with 866 double-digit scoring games.
