Rams, Chiefs will playing in LA rather than Mexico City in Week 11

Heading into Week 11 of the 2018 season, there has been plenty of buzz surrounding the primetime matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs next Monday night in Mexico City at Estadio Azteca.

However, the NFL has decided to change its plans for the game as it moved its location over to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum because of concerns over the field conditions, according to ESPN.

The NFL has decided to move Monday night’s showdown between the 9-1 Chiefs and Rams from Mexico City to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum because of poor field conditions at Estadio Azteca, it was announced Tuesday.

This decision came down quite quickly. The committee had no choice after video and photos made headway via social media of how poor the field conditions were. It immediately drew concerns about playing a game on a surface that was clearly inadequate for that purpose.

It had also begun to see reports surface that players were potentially thinking about boycotting planning in the game. This would be due to the possibility of suffering an injury. This along with poor preparation led to the decision for the league to move to Los Angeles.

There have been no changes in time or day for the contest that will remain the same. The Rams had flown to Colorado to train for the high altitude. They will remain there to train for the game that was expected to be played in Mexico City. The Chiefs were also reportedly going a similar route prior to the announcement of moving the location.
