Browns wideout Jarvis Landry says Duke Johnson trade request won’t be a distraction
In the last few months, the Cleveland Browns have been the talk around the league due to the talent they have gathered on their roster that has lifted the expectations around the franchise exponentially.
However, it has also created reason for veteran running back Duke Johnson to ask for a trade as the Browns have clustered players at his position with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt both on the roster. Despite all of that linger discussion, Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry has voiced that he doesn’t believe that this will create a distraction around the team, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
“It will not be a distraction,’’ Landry said. “Our focus is pretty clear. We want to win a championship and the guys that are here, that’s going to help us do that. We start on Thursday. Let’s get it done.’’
Johnson has stayed headstrong with his desire to be moved, but the Browns have shown that they don’t want to trade him. It has put the veteran tailback in a spot where it’s out of his control. At the same time, he has continued to be vocal about but only has talked about it when asked by reporters.
This is something that should get resolved at some point, but if the team can find success next season this will be more of a side story. All of this simply depends on Cleveland being able to win games and contend for the playoffs as they continue to voice this offseason that their eyes are directly on.
Simply put, winning solves everything and makes this trade request a non-story next season, but if not that topic will linger in a greater capacity.
