Stephen Curry Breaks Hand in Fall Against Phoenix Suns

Star guard Stephen Curry with the Golden State Warriors broke his left hand following a hard fall during Wednesday’s game versus the Phoenix Suns.

Warriors’ general manager Bob Meyers said that Curry would undergo a CT scan and MRI. From that point, the team would determine if Curry needs to have surgery. We await confirmation of what his timetable would be for recovery.

Stephen Curry, who is 31, fractured his second metacarpal, which is the bone just below the index finger, said a source close to the team.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the start to the season has been tough on many levels. As well as that, the team is trying to find its footing. Kerr added that it was obvious the injury to Curry puts the Warriors in a tough spot.

Kerr added that the Warriors coaches would meet to determine the adjustments to the lineup that would be made without Curry.

Golden State already does not have Klay Thompson, who injured his ACL in the NBA Finals in June and Kevon Looney, who is suffering from a neuropathic condition that will sideline home for a minimum of three more games.

The Warriors are 1-3 to start the season. The injury to Curry is devastating to the squad that has had huge problems with its defense.

Curry was injured about midway through the third quarter. The incident occured when he drove the lane and collided with Suns center Aron Baynes. Baynes was attempting to take a charge and fell on Curry’s hand.

Willie Cauley-Smith took Curry’s free throws when the guard could not continue.

Speculation has surfaced that Golden State could tank the remainder of the season in order to end up with a lottery pick in the draft, but Warriors owner Joe Lacob said he would not respond to such a question when asked.
